Fall View - Day 96

This is the grasslands that I drive through twice each week on my way to Choir.  I actually think it is beautiful.  The sleepy little town in the background is named Snowflake.  There are no pine trees here, just shrubs and juniper.  It is still beautiful in its own way.  I have discovered that beauty is never far away if we will only open our eyes and look a little harder.

Driving Practice - Day 95

Once every two or three years, we are required to take 16 hours of driver training.  The training consists of eight hours of classroom work and eight hours of driving the big vehicles.

We call this one Big Red

And this is the Ambo.

There is nothing quite like sitting behind the wheel and realizing that you are responsible for approximately 40,000 lbs.  It has the effect of being rather humbling.  

Frozen - Day 94

Today I am participating in the Sunday Creative where the topic for this week is frozen.

Frozen:  1. Made into, covered with, or surrounded by ice. 

             2.  Very Cold

             3.  Preserved by freezing

The snow fell

Glistening in the moonlight

Freezing all of the living

Into white, breathing statues

Of remembrance.
Tomorrow 
Will bring the sun
In all it's blazing glory
Thawing the world
once again.
But for tonight
I can admire 
The frozen beauty
Of cold, sparkling
New snow.

He is not in the Wind - Day 93

1Kings 19:11-12
And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:

Fire Engine Red - Day 92

Sometimes, when you see something everyday, you forget how amazing it is.  I am thankful for the many men and women who serve our communities daily and for the great good that they do.
