If a picture paints a thousand words

This blog is a place for me to work on my photography. My goal is to submit a new picture every day and to get better as the moments go by. I take all pictures with my digital camera. I worked for years with a 35 mm minolta, and this is a learning experience for me. I am afraid that I got lazy and allowed the camera to choose most of the settings for me. This is my journey of learning how to shoot a camera that is not in a program mode. It is harder than I ever imagined. That makes this challenge both a new experience and a joy for me.

Looking at the Sky - Day 180

I love trees and branches.  I love the overcast sky and the way it looks through the leaves.

"A tree against the sky possesses the same interest,
the same character,
the same expression as the figure of a human."
Georges Rouault

Wild Horses - Day 179

Don't know why these guys made such and impact, but I totally loved this statue.  I loved the colors, the detail and the total wildness of it.  I thought it was worth sharing.

A lovely horse is always an experience.... It is an emotional experience of the kind that is spoiled by words.  ~Beryl Markham

A horse is the projection of peoples' dreams about themselves - strong, powerful, beautiful - and it has the capability of giving us escape from our mundane existence.  ~Pam Brown

"There is something about the outside of a horse that is good for the inside of a man."  Winston Churchhill.

The wind of heaven is that which blows between a horse's ears.  ~Arabian Proverb

Cactus Blooms?? - Day 178

Goodness, it was only February, still snowy were I come from and I saw these microscopic blooms and just had to try and get a picture of them!

Earth laughs in flowers.  ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

Flowers seem intended for the solace of ordinary humanity.  ~John Ruskin

The flowers of late winter and early spring occupy places in our hearts well out of proportion to their size.  ~Gertrude S. Wister

but also on the trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars."

Tree Trunk - Day 177

I thought this tree trunk was really interesting.  It almost seems to tell a story.

There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it.  ~Minnie Aumonier

If you would know strength and patience, welcome the company of trees.  ~Hal Borland

A Night at the Play - Day 176

My husband and I were able to get away for a "date" night.  We went to Phoenix and saw the play "9 to 5".  It was funny, sweet, and the singing was completely amazing.  We enjoyed ourselves and are now trying to see if Netflix has it on the instant que!!  Nothing like a fun day away from the snow to make me happy!

Good Boy! - Day 175

When it is too cold and shivery outside to do pictures, there is always somebody who will hold still long enough for a quick shot.

Or even two or three!
