If a picture paints a thousand words

This blog is a place for me to work on my photography. My goal is to submit a new picture every day and to get better as the moments go by. I take all pictures with my digital camera. I worked for years with a 35 mm minolta, and this is a learning experience for me. I am afraid that I got lazy and allowed the camera to choose most of the settings for me. This is my journey of learning how to shoot a camera that is not in a program mode. It is harder than I ever imagined. That makes this challenge both a new experience and a joy for me.

Honor Band - Day 62

My daughter made Honor band in school.  These are a few pictures of the band playing for the playoff football game.  She did a great job and I have always liked doing people in Black and White.

The Fence - In Black and White - Day 61

This is my third day in the 30 day challege for black and white photography.  I saw this fence, and really thought that it was pretty.  I hope that you like it.  I love all the detail in the wooden rails.  I actually think they came out pretty nice with a black and white touch.

Halloween Cupcake - Day 60

Black and White
The challenge this month over at Justine's Blog  is black and white photos.  I can't promise that I will make it through the whole month.  I love color in everything.  But, since I am trying to broaden my horizons in photography, I am going to try for the black and white touch and see what I get.
This is one of the cupcakes for Mikayla's birthday.

The leaves are falling down - Day 59

All around the town, when you can actually find leaves, they are turning colors and starting to fall down.  To me, there are not many things prettier than a beautiful fall day!

And, since I am working on the black and white photos, here is one for that challenge as well.  You can find the information over at my friend, Justine's Blog

The Morning Fire - Day 58

A Cheery Fire in the Morning Hours

Probably, one of my favorite parts of having the mornings get colder, is the wood fire burning in the wood stove.  We heat our house mostly with wood every winter.  It cuts down on fuel costs and keeps us warm.  We love the way it looks and the feelings of comfort that it elicits.

Macro Friday - Day 56

The Last Flowers of Fall - Day 56

In driving around town, I found these few flowers hanging on in spite of the cooler weather.  This really is a macro shot as these flowers are less than an inch in diameter each.  I loved the yellow, and I thought it ironic that the only ones I found were all in fall colors!
