If a picture paints a thousand words

This blog is a place for me to work on my photography. My goal is to submit a new picture every day and to get better as the moments go by. I take all pictures with my digital camera. I worked for years with a 35 mm minolta, and this is a learning experience for me. I am afraid that I got lazy and allowed the camera to choose most of the settings for me. This is my journey of learning how to shoot a camera that is not in a program mode. It is harder than I ever imagined. That makes this challenge both a new experience and a joy for me.

  2. Pretty flowers! However, I'm pretty sure it's vinca, not honeysuckle. They are an amazing, drought hardy plant that does well in shade. http://www.types-of-flowers.org/vinca.html

    I like your macro shots!

  3. Lovely...but really? Is that a honeysuckle? That look nothing what we call honeysuckles here in the South....but it's probably just a slang.

  5. My whole life, that is what we have called these. So, if I am wrong, I am sorry. Chalk it up to over 50 years of hearing and believing. Now that you have all set me straight, maybe I will have to find a real one and compare. Sorry about that ladies.

  6. That's okay. My mom called it myrtle my whole life; then I saw it in a nursery once and it said vinca. I googled all three before I posted my comment.

Whatever it is, it brings back lovely childhood memories of playing under, and in, the trees in front of our house.

It seems like we used to pluck the flowers and suck out the sweetness; maybe that's why you called it honeysuckle.

Are you really over 50? Welcome to my side of the hill!
