Canning Pickles - Day 32
I inherited a few cucumbers this weekend. They were perfect for the bread and butter pickles that my mouth has been watering for. So, when the weekend finally came around, we chopped cucumbers, onions, bell peppers and garlic. I put them to soak in a salt brine for several hours.
Once they were done, I rinsed them off and made the vinegar, spices, and sugar solution that they are covered in. We poured them into the jars and gave them a nice hot water bath!
Oh my gosh, did they ever turn out tasty!! I will never buy another pickle again. These are simply amazing!
That first shot is GORGEOUS!! The colors are so beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a labor of love, and these look amazing!
ReplyDeleteOh they look very good! Yum!
ReplyDeleteyou are clever, this looks great!
ReplyDeleteTakes my breath away... The colors and all our work. I like your imagery for my sons poem. And also, I reorganized the challenge into one blog... Could you relink the photo of the peachesnto the new challenge? These pickles would-be fabulous as well. More than one entry is allowed. Especially at this beginning stage. 11 children... I always laugh when people say I have a big family. I know quite a few with larger. :)
ReplyDeleteOur work. Ha ha. I meant your work.
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone! It is truly a labor of love. We enjoy the crispy, tastiness of homemade. That is what makes it all worth while.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the process. What lovely colors!
